Here are my results from the 24 hour comic challenge. Took me long enough to post this stuff.
I went to my local comic shop, Modern Myths, where they took good care of us. There were eight of us taking the challenge in total and many of us lasted at least until midnight. I personally only made it 17 and a half hours, and the last two were kind of me sitting and taking my time with the little stuff. It was brutal, but so much fun.
As you might be able to tell, I didn’t get through the 24 pages.
I decided to go with a western, I figured the background would be simple and I could play fast and loose with character design if I used ponchos and hats. Of course I had to learn to draw horses, so all the time I saved I lost.
I started off pretty strong - I spent about an hour kind of getting settled and brainstorming and then the next two finishing up pages - sans text. I was sort of writing it as I drew it. So I drew these pages and then went back and did the text. It feels poorly written, I like the idea more than the finished product. I’d like to do some more work with this and clean it up.
I think the first three pages are the best, I love the color palate I went with.
I would like to keep working with it.
