So this is an Ad I drew for the comic, the skyscrapper kind.

When Bjorn and I started this, we talked about how Bjorn - though he doesn’t always play one - would probably be an evil wizard in DnD.  A mastermind, and possibly my greatest rival.  We couldn’t pin me down, maybe a druid.

We talked about that at length recently, when we went to a cabin in Vermont for our friend’s bachelor party.  I planned it, it was rad.  But part of it was playing DnD.  I had them roll themselves, and we talked for a long time about why each one of them should be whatever class - I was the archangel that gave them the quest.

The quest was for the groom-to-be and his friends to rescue the bride-to-be.  She had been kidnapped, hours before the wedding, by an evil sorceress known as the Queen of Blades.

Aside: The Queen was actually one of my ancient enemies (I had never revealed to my friends my true form) and I couldn’t destroy her so I trapped her soul in a warforged head thousands of years ago.  But she built a body and conquered Kestria, one of the Seven Floating Cities of Eltorr.  She was a vain woman and wanted her Warforged body to be beautiful, until she could capture a woman about to be wed and essentailly steal her body.

Our heroes one, and the archangel sent them back through space and time just before the ceremony.

Long story short, DnD has such a huge impact on my art, and also my desire to make it, that I had to throw it into the Ad I made for the strip.

My Second 90 Minute Challenge, in the vain of Stripsearch.  I got a lot farther on this one than the last, granted thsi one was a bit simpler.  This actually took me 100 minutes to complete, and I added some touch ups after I finished the word bubbles.

I like it for the most part, though Floyd in Panel 2’s face looks a little too big for his hair.  And he looks super Grinchy, but I guess I like that.

Floyd.

90 minute challenge.
So this is tomorrow’s comic. I started drawing after Bjorn and I wrote it and tried to complete it within 90 minutes, like an elimination round in Strip Search (which is what we ended up calling the strip, though for different reasons).
I put the stylus down and took a snap shot at 90 minutes.  It was not a very good job, and I went back and tweaked a few things (I decided to introduce new noses with this comic and couldn’t get them right while rushing), but I enjoyed the experience.  It was eye opening.  I will definitely be trying it again, but I’m going to just try and speed it up a little for now.

It’s like cartooning cardio.

Haha!

This is a full color version on Rorick. It’s sized up for the papes, so you can check it out.  I wasn’t originally going to post this up here, but I sent it to someone and didn’t want them to think it was a virus (I’m paranoid).

Anyway,
Floyd out.

This is my newest DnD character, Rorick Umberhall.  I haven’t posted on here in ages, but I wanted to upload this to my character builder :)

Paper and pencil, must mean I’m drawing a DnD Character again!

So I’m reading this book from the Black Library’s Horus Heresy Series Angel Space Marines.  The book is called Decent of Angels.  Very cool, if you like 40K.  Anyway, I borrowed a lot of the feel for my character from the main character in the book, both of these guys are named Zahariel, for example.

And their both knights.

This quest is going to be cool though.  My buddy Jiles Corey (guy next to me on the left) is DM’ing.  The world is really cool.  It’s nautically themed, achepelligo style world, lots of islands and boats.  Magic is rare.  And there are no humans (and no half-elves as a result).  You may not the little point on the ear of Zahariel.  He’s an elf.
An elf fighter! Str 20 baby! (and wisdom 15, whaaat?)  We didn’t alter anything from the actual rules, but Jiles and I talked about how, due to the lack of humans, elves are a little more beefy in this world.  Everyone else is wee folk (because orcs/half-orcs are ferral piratey types and not really part of society).
I’m really excited for this character.  He’s not your typical elf in any way.  I’m also pumped to be the party’s defender.  Haven’t done that ever in 4E.  In fact, I think I’ve played almost exclusively controllers.  Except for that ranger.
Anyway, I’m so excited.  I just hope he doesn’t fall off the boat.  That scalemail looks heavy.

Good to be tumblin’ again.
Drew this on vacation, played around with different brushes and effects in Photoshop.
I just read The Tao of Pooh and it was really good.  Changed the way I look at the world a little bit.  And it inspired this piece of work.
I’m also more than ready for autumn.  It’s my favorite time of year and I’m ready for those beautiful leaves, the harvest ales, and the crisp air.  When it finally comes I’ll find a tree like this one.

This is a pretty sweet drawing of Bjorn overlooking an orbital docking port, before returning to [conquer] his homeworld.

I’m sticking this on the backside of the one with myself overlooking the DnD table, and putting them in the local comic shops.

Chris Collins Creative: Why Less is Better in Social Media

chriscollinsiscreative:

I’ve recently become a big supporter of the “less is better” mentality when it comes to social media. You’ll notice that I’ve removed most of the sharing buttons and “in your face” links to social media profiles. It’s been working really well for me (and for other people) and I’ll tell you why.

Hey guys.  Been a crazy couple weeks so I’ve been neglecting el Tumbs.  But fear not, I’ve got some scans and stuff coming your way.  In the mean time, check this out.
redid that drawing from my work notebook in Photoshop.  I’m thinking of slapping some text on it and printing it on a postcard sized paper and leaving them at the local comic shops.  Around here, local is good.
